XR1000
Land Speed Record Attempt

The folks at the Sportster List formed a team to take back a land speed record from Moto Guzzi who "stole" it from Harley in 1999. They have an XR1000 that they have built up for just this purpose. ( I am Proud to say that I was an official team member)
They were shooting for taking the record in Oct. 2000 but the SCTA finals were cancelled due to rain on the salt (and guess who was sitting on the salt watching it rain... me). Don't worry, they were not done by any means. They made runs at Maxton (ECTA) later in the year and they have since been back to Bonneville.
